Payment of 2021 Taxes
Following is a copy of a letter written by Charles Hanlon, Stanford Tax Collector, and printed in the Poughkeepsie Journal. It explains the procedures for paying taxes this year, with adjustments that had to be made due to COVID. NOTICE OF RECEIPT OF TAX ROLL AND WARRANT IS HEREBY GIVEN.
Charles F. Hanlon, Tax Collector for the Town of Stanford, has received the tax roll and warrant for the collection of taxes for the 2021.
*DUE TO COVID-19 NO TAXES WILL BE COLLECTED AT THE STANFORD TOWN HALL. All tax payments must be mailed to TAX COLLECTOR P.O. BOX 436, 26 TOWN HALL ROAD, STANFORDVILLE, NY. 12581
Cash payments are discouraged. If you must pay cash please contact the Stanford Town Clerk, at (845-868-1366 option 5 to set up an appointment.
CASH PAYMENT MUST BE TO THE PENNY.

Taxes may be paid on or before March 1, 2021 without penalty. Penalties will be levied on all taxes received as follows: 2% through March 31st, 3% through April 30th, 4% through May 31st. An additional TWO DOLLARS ($2.00) handling fee will also be assessed on all unpaid taxes from May 1st through 31st, 2019. Take further notice, that pursuant to State law, the tax rolls will be returned to the Dutchess County Commissioner of Finance on June 1, 2019.
